IBPS is the acronym for Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, which is the apex body for recruitment, promotion and placement services in Indian public sector undertaking (PSU) banks. Founded in 1975 as a unit of National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM), it became an autonomous body in 1984  at the behest of Reserve Bank of India (RBI). IBPS conducts the examination for Specialist Officer to recruit candidates in different public sectors for various positions.

IBPS SO syllabus is split into the following sections:

1. English language – questions from the language and skills of reading, writing
2. Quantitative aptitude – Maths of class X level such as Number Systems, Profit & loss, Work time & distance, Data Interpretation etc.
3. Reasoning Ability – logical reasoning questions (verbal and non-verbal)
4. General/Economy/Banking Awareness – general knowledge and current events
5. Professional knowledge – 
   • IT Officer: General knowledge of hardware, software, networking, Internet etc.
   • Agriculture Field Officer: Basics of Crop production and improvement, Seed Science, Irrigation schemes etc.
   • Marketing Officer: Basics of Marketing Management, Brand Management, Business Ethics etc.
   • HR Officer: Human Resource Development, Grievance management, Recruitment, Training etc.
   • Law Officer: Consumer Protection Act, Money Laundering Act, Relevant Law etc.

Law Officer- Scale I & Rajbhasha Adhikari Scale I

IT Officer Scale I, Agricultural Field Officer Scale I, HR/ Personnel Officer Scale I &Marketing Officer Scale I

The above tests except the Test of English Language will be available bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score.

* Only qualifying. Marks obtained will not be added for merit listing for interview.

Last Date to Apply Online for IBPS SO: November 23, 2020

Online Fee Payment: November 2 - 23, 2020

IBPS SO Preliminary Examination: December 26 & 27, 2020

IBPS SO Main Examination: January 24, 2021
